I got tired of waiting for those over night temps 20's, way over due this fall, so I threw in the match a few days ago.

I'm still waiting til the overnight temps get in the 20's, it's late this fall, not complaining tho.

I draw off the top, had no boiling issues in the last two winters of operation, even on gusty NW winds (30-40 mph), my BL would tend to overheat to about 205 degrees, normal setting at 180.

Tried out the new logging tools for about an hour today, worked great, including using a 16" bar on my Husky 272. Very easy on my back.

Got'em this week. Now to tackle my 21 cord oak log pile, average log size 12", most of it found behind my stacked firewood.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: How full do you fill your stove?

Same here with my P & M 2840, enough til the next fill up. I believe it will burn less efficient when filled over 2/3 full IMHO. Good to have more open space to allow for heat to metal contact.

Had our first frost here in Western WI.

I ordered this cant hook the other day:

This other one will have to wait til Christmas. My brother and his son each have one, says, best thing to come along for handling logs and big round firewood.

I turn mine on once every month. On my old furnace of 13 years, never turned it on during summer, same pump still works, I saved it as a back up for this furnace.

I always have wondered too if leaving the thin glaze, would harm the metal. I scraped off the flaky stuff and leave the glaze.

I like my BL very much, really efficient. I don't care much for the old style bricks that they used earlier in this model which the bricks stand on edge, bad idea. Now they have a new version where they are more flat with built in spacers to keep them evenly spaced apart, instead of making your own 1/2" spacers out 1/2" round bars.
