how long is your burn season?   I  know some of you burn year round for pools and such but how long is your heating season.      I've been firing up about mid october and burn til June 1st here in mid west michigan.

I'm in northern Mn and this is my first year so I'm not totally sure yet. I would think its pretty close to you others..  We got it installed in oct and may or June sounds about right for shutting it down.

my season is when the wife bitches she's too cold until she bitches she's too warm.  See a pattern here?  You can't put a date on that.

 haha! this is so true!!

I lit mine this year in late October.  Will probably burn until May or until I run out of wood.  I have an electric heat pump that does great in the fall and spring.

Haven't fired mine yet (75 yesterday) and I'll run it till March/April. Usually November is when I'd fire up but it's been extra warm lately and I've been down while I put in the new P&M (almost done!)

Good rule of thumb for you sportsman:  Start the wood furnace at the start of Moose season (mid-October).  Shut her down at the start of Turkey season (early May).....

I burn late October until end of April here in W. MD.  May decide to burn longer as the owb does not use much wood.
