Title: Anybody ever try the Meg-MO system?
Post by: mlappin on April 13, 2017, 11:33:07 AM
Thinking about buying a set of the Meg-Mo blades for my zero turn. A set of OEM blades are now well over $100. With the way they can swing back aren’t supposed to chuck rocks as far either. Between semi’s, straight trucks and the equipment up and down the drive way always seem to get some rocks squirted into the grass from an edge of a tire.

I’ve seen  the display at the farm shows and understand the reasoning behind using more but shorter blades.

Looks like a simplified version of the municipal  stuff I've seen but I must admit, I have never used one.

Now I am trying to find a mower with a v8 mounted to it so those rock are only hit once.

Interesting though

Actually I’m looking for a used one of these with the pre emission, pre def 35hp Cat on it.

The perkins would probably be alright too, but if it has DEF I don’t want it.

My Woods does alright, but the first time the grass gets a little tall the Kubota 3 banger diesel in it is a little short on poop. I’ve thought about adding a teeny tiny little turbo to it and getting a 3 core radiator, but then I’d probably be tearing the electric deck clutch up or the gearbox on the deck.

Don't even need a turbo on it.  Turn the fuel up a little and u can get another 10hp easy.

How hard is it to turn up the fuel? My RTV900 could use some more power.

That would depend on the engine I suppose, if this one is pretty close to max far as HP then more fuel just leads to more smoke, diluted oil from unburnt fuel, and any unburnt fuel just washes the cylinder walls down. Rolling coal might be cool to some, but it plays hell on longevity.

I like our 3208 Cats, bog em clear down to almost stalling and no black smoke.

You're 100% correct BUT a little black smoke on a high power demand shows the engine is actually working at the power you need.  Sounds to me like that cat needs more fuel.

RSI it's not hard at all depending on the engine.  My 1025r it took literally 5 minutes for me to give it another 5hp.  About an 1/8th turn on the fuel screw and I don't get black smoke unless the engine is really working hard then I can see a faint smoke trail, that is exactly what you are looking for.  The 1025 is turned WAY down for emissions.  The same engine is used on the 32hp models.

Putting out 215hp last time it was dynoed, much more and you run into power shifter issues, next model up was a 225hp with a turbo'd 3208.
