Plumbing / Re: connecting to logstor
« on: December 28, 2017, 08:16:34 PM »
I think the compression fittings I used were for 1" pex-al-pex as that was what my first piping was. For my connection at the boiler I used the same fitting then a piece of copper then a piece of heater hose then back to copper on the boiler connections. The heater hose makes the connection flexable. I was hoping maybe to find a better connection maybe I will look to where I got the logstor from.

General Discussion / Re: Rude/ ungrateful children rant

I would have sworn we were Russian when we grew up cause my old man is as sharp as the sickle and as hard as the hammer that crosses it. Probably the sweedish side of my heritage. We learned the value of hard work very early on. I can't even talk to kids these days , most of them make me sick. My wife's son is 21 , lives with us , has never even had a driver's license. He's a smart kid but lazy as an old hound dog. I don't even try to get him motivated anymore I feel like it's easier to struggle and do things myself then have him help me. It's sad but these kids don't care. When we aren't here to do everything for them they are F'd. We are lucky that over the years I have been able to amass pretty near anything that we could ever need. Our kid would have everything he would ever need to survive if mom and I weren't here but he wouldn't get out from in front of the play station long enough to ever use any of it. He would freeze before he split any wood or light the wood boiler. He could have 3 trucks to drive but no license. He would have to find a job but it would be tough to get there. I don't understand these kids these day they make me sick.

I set mine to 5 min on every 30 it seems to work good for me. I have been running it that way for 3 years no issues except self created ones.  8)

Equipment / Re: Old tractors

BudMan is spot on. The one with the full tin work is a farmall H the other is an F-12. Not worth a lot of money , both are really easy to work on and parts are readily available. Standing behind the H the serial number is on an aluminum tag on on the left side of the bell housing behind the motor. The f-12 tag would be on the back of the toolbox under the fuel tank. If you can still make out any of the numbers go to tractordata.com for information and the year built. I have a bunch of stuff in my yard that looks just like what you have there , don't have the heart to scrap tractors.

I like the Kinko frost breaker when it's colder out here. Found the first pair when I was in KY visiting the inlaws a couple winters ago. Last year I found them at the lumber yard down the road. They are a thick knit with the rubber palm. Warm enough with good grip.

Plumbing / connecting to logstor
« on: December 28, 2017, 06:58:18 PM »
I'm hooking my wood boiler back up at our new house and I was wondering what is the best way to connect 1" copper to my logstor? I was using some compression fittings that I think were for 1" pex and I'm pretty sure that's why I had a leak last spring.

I was playing with some regular 3/4 pex today running some cold water supply lines. The whole time I was fighting with it I was looking at all the hy-PE-RTube I ran and wishing all pex layed out that easy. I ran all my heating loops just temp hanging all the tube with wire then went back with the hangers. The pex I ran today I had to hang it as I went along or it rolled back up as soon as I let it go. Too bad its not NSF I would have used more of the hy-PE-RTube.

Regulations / Re: Where to find the rules

Here in MA you can go to MA.gov which is our state website and everything regarding OWB and any other solid burning stoves are outlined there. Also gives a list of approved units and regulations going along with them. Maybe something like that exists in DE

General Discussion / Re: Christmas is coming
« on: November 29, 2017, 06:05:25 PM »
The other day it got cold down here maybe in the 20's. Every piece of equipment I own had a dead battery and we were moving to our new house. I decided what I really want for Christmas is a jump pack that will start my backhoe or my other diesels. Was looking at the TruckPac ES6000 anyone else out there have one they like?

I've heard stories about pex-al and others but never seen it first hand or know anyone who has. Once we uncoiled the hy-PE-rtube and rotated the loops out of it it stayed straight. It never tried to coil itself back up. There was no fighting clamping it up to joists and the runs look straight when you clamp it every few joists. The most amazing part is how flexable it is and how easy you can bend it without kinking. Great product.

I bought a case of the Cenex bar oil on ebay it is really good. As far as 2 stroke I only use the full synthetic I won't run cheap stuff in my saws.
