But I tell ya, this storm could have hit anywhere down there and not touched a thing. It's like you drew a line right up the main part of town and the storm just followed it. It took out a hospital, over 400 homes and over 100 businesses.... Folks in other areas can't imagine what a blow like that does to an area.
There are many mom n pop grocery stores in the area "not in town" that are truly like going back in time 75 years, 2 story white buildings that sell feed, old men always sittin out front shooting the breeze, you walk in and there is the original cash register, hard wood floors, shelving, it's just amazing to come around the corner and go in one of these mom n pop places. Seems like there is always a little well dressed woman behind the counter wanting to fix you a sammich as soon as you walk in! Wish more people could see how things were back in the day, I get to see that from time to time and I love it
