Where do you look to find the propane tanks?

I have seen tanks on craigslist. usually around 1.00 per gal. I have a neighbor that owns a pipe yard & he has lots of propane tanks.
 Before I cut into mine I took all the fittings out of the top & filled it with water & dawn dish soap. I let the water run over when I made my first cut. kind of messy but it worked. Just be very cautious with it.

Ayuh,....   I've gotten my tanks from the local propane supplier from their change out yard,...
I get 'em for scrap prices, as that's all they're worth to them...

When I get a tank, I remove any screw in fittin's, 'n turn the tank, so's there's an open port, facin' straight down, then let it air out for a week or so...
Then I fire up my blue-tip wrench, 'n go to cuttin'....

Propane is heavier than air, 'n will empty the tank by itself in no time at all...
The Oil in some of the tanks is what's Nasty to deal with,... it holds the smell, really badly...

That's what I've seen is $1 a gallon for serviceable tanks. I do have a dealer that I use and will check with him to see if he has any that are going for scrap prices. I've seen several builds using 1/2 of a 500 gallon propane tank and a smaller tank for the burn box.
