General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / OWB Loading Gear
« on: January 30, 2009, 02:02:39 PM »
Reading the Safety Gear thread got me thinking about something else.  What do you guys wear when adding wood to your OWB to keep from smelling like smoke?  Or do you just not care.  I know my wife hates it when I come in from messing with the OWB and smell like smoke.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Leaking Fittings When Water Cools
« on: January 29, 2009, 02:37:03 PM »
We lost our electric due to the ice and snow for almost 24 hours and my fittings leaked around both my exchangers, but once the water is back hot again in the lines they stop leaking.  I have noticed this briefly when the water in the OWB gets lower than normal.

Does anyone else have this problem?

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Temperature
« on: October 30, 2008, 12:51:37 PM »
Last night I borrowed an IR thermometer gun to test some temps on my OWB setup.  The water temp at the pump said 170 which is correct.  However when I read the temp on the pex pipe as it came into the house it read 160.  My question is how much of this difference is do to the pex pipe?  I know I am not losing 10 degrees from the OWB to the house (it is about 60 feet from OWB to house).

WoodMaster / Smoking Question
« on: October 24, 2008, 06:00:23 AM »
When the damper opens and the fan kicks on I get smoke coming out the top of the door and the hole where the damper slides in and out.  Those with Woodmasters do you have the same thing happen?

WoodMaster / WoodMaster 4400 Install
« on: October 20, 2008, 12:21:00 PM »
I finally was able to get my WoodMaster 4400 installed this past Friday.  The reason for such a delay is that I had to hire an HVAC guy to unhook my furnace lift it up and then put the exchanger in underneath it, and re run all the lines and the propane line for the furnace.

The 4400 lit.

The pump.

Here is the exhanger under the furnace.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Concrete Slab
« on: August 11, 2008, 11:26:12 AM »
I am getting ready to pour my concrete slab for my OWB (WoodMaster 4400).  I was thinking instead of pouring the standard 3-4" slab and adding blocks that I would pour it 10" thick.  I want it higher up anyway to make it easier to load wood and see inside it.  Anyone see any issues I might run into doing this?  I have to buy a minimum of 3 yards anyway and this would help use up the extra.

Site Suggestions / Different Message Board Software?
« on: May 12, 2008, 01:47:25 PM »
I know that the vBulletin software is more user-friendly than what we have now.  I didn't install that one in the beginning is because it is not free like SMF is.  But if the majority wants to upgrade than we will do that.

Site Suggestions / Main Site
« on: March 27, 2008, 10:37:33 AM »
I created a .PDF document out on the main site (http://www.outdoorwoodfurnaceinfo.com) of a Hardy H-2 setup.  If anyone else is interested in creating some similar documents please feel free and then you can email them to me (admin@outdoorwoodfurnaceinfo.com) and I will post them to the main site.  I think these might be helpful to individuals learning about setups and how outdoor wood burners work and function.

If anyone has any suggestions for the main site please let me know.  I am working on making main site, right now it is just plain.

What type of info would you like to see on the main site?
