Temp around 50 today so I didn't load my CB 5036 this am to let the chunks of charcoal burn down. At dark I loaded it with wood. There didn't seem to be any fire in there so I left the door cracked.....and forgot about it.
Went into the garage, shut the door, turned on the music, cracked a beer and waxed the truck. About an hour later I closed up and headed to the house. Heard this strange sound coming from the boiler area. Water and steam was gushing out the pop-off valve on top and the temp was 212. I sealed the door, opened the side door, turned on the space heater in the garage, and turned up the thermostat in the house to take some of the heat out. It took awhile but it started dropping. House and garage sure were warm. I learned several things:
Thermometer on boiler is acurate.
Pop-off valve works likes it is supposed to.
Don't leave the fricken door open.
System seems ok. No leaks. Surprisingly the water level didn't go down very much.
Anybody else boil theirs over??
