Hawken Energy, support only / Re: I've looked at them all

Kevin

Where are you located?  I have the 2100 and couldn't be happier. Would be happy to show you my install if you are in the central Michigan area.

As you stated, the rep I deal with is very helpful and knowledgable. I even went and picked mine up from there factory and everyone was very helpful there also.

I also looked at several other brands before deciding on Hawken, and customer service was one of my deciding factors.
They were quick to respond everytime I had a question.
One of the other brands I looked has a rep that lives about 2 miles from me, I called him to look at the stoves he had and he was to busy to show me their product and did not want to schedule a time.
Anyway, about 1 1/2 weeks later he calls me and wants me to drop everything and come look at his stoves. Told I just purchased one 2 days earlier and he starts raising his voice on the phone saying I never gave him an opportunity.
I am definitly glad I did not buy a BurnRite

I am happy with mine.  It is a simply design, ya it burns alot of wood but that is what i expected.  Most all non gasses rip through the wood.  I  heat 3000 sq feet and get a easy 12-14 hour burn.  That is all I can ask for.  House is set at 74 deg. 24/7.

Couldn't be happier with mine either, I have the larger no gasser (due to building a barn soon) but currently heating 2500 sq ft, keep the house at 74 and heat my water also, fill every 24 hours.
Went away for 2 days and the outside temps were in the teens, turned the hose down to 70 degrees.
Would of probably went one more day beore needing wood.

I have a Hawken 2100 and love it so far, First year on it, but went with them because the customer service has been great on getting answers to questions and they even came out to help with an on-site evaluation for location and set-up options. Did the install myself and they were more than helpful when I would call with a question.
They have evn checked to see how it has been operating since the install.

Our CB dealer in the area is more interested in the sale, I have 2 friends with thier boilers and they say trying to get service is like pulling teeth.

As far as Burnrite, I was very interested in thier stove. But when I called up the salesman to talk about them and go look at one in use, he was to busy. Tried to set up a couple of appointments to go look at them and he was always to busy.
I figured with this kind of customer service I definitly didn't want thier product.

Burnrite out of Mt Pleasent MI. I looked at many also and glad I bought what I did.

Must be your representative/salesman was better than the one in my area, He helped me make my choice to stay away from them.

I didn't buy a burnrite due to the sales reps attitude and not wanting to give the time of day.

Went with a Hawken and couldn't be happier.  Temp is good 180, wood useage is a lot less than what I thought it would be also.

I thought the same with my Hawken OWB that I was loosing 20 degrees by the time it entered the house.
Thermometer on OWB reads 170, and I used a temp gun on the line in the house and get 150.
Last night I used the temp gun at the OWB line of the pump and at the house line. Both read 150. So there is no 20 degree drop using a temp gun.

So tomorrow I am going to pull actual water out of the OWB and at the filter in the house and check with a manual thermometer.

I am thinking either the aquastat is not reading properly?
The temp gauge in the front of the unit is bad (off 20 degrees)?
Or possibly I have a pump that is weak?

No Jacking your thread here, but sounds like we have identical problems. Actually have the rep coming out tomorrow also.

I am very happy with the overall performance.

Are you going by the thermostat reading on the front of the unit and comparing it to the line coming into the house?
How are you obtaining the temperature from the line in the house?  Temp. gun?

I built my house in the middle of an 18 acre woodlot. I just installed a Hawken and have had no issues with smoke or the way it burns.
Been very happy with thier rep and the customer service I have recieved from the company, and the OWB works great, wish I would have installed 5 years ago when I built the house.

I recently purchased a new OWB. After making several calls and emails I went with the company and representaive that made me feel important.
The representative actually contacted me several times to make sure my installation was going properly.

Shortly after making my purchase one of the other companys I called while looking called me back. At the time I called him he did not want to take time out of his schedule.
Anyway he calls me and I tell him I already bought one, he proceeds to say "if I knew you were going to buy one that soon I would have changed my schedule".
In this economy you need to treat everyone as a potetial buyer

Has anyone ever considered constructing a dry sauna room?

Thinking about trying it. Figure the temp of the pipes would be more that hot enough?
