Title: Compressor tank - Repairable?

Anybody know anything about compressor tanks?  I got this as part of a bigger equipment purchase.  The previous owner had (tried) to put some attachment on it so he could spray finishes with it.  The threads are all buggered up as you can see from the picture.

Can this this be plugged up sufficiently so I can use the compressor, or is it just trashed.  Is it worth trying to fix?

Why not drill/tap it out to the next size for a plug?   :thumbup:

My thoughts exactly, kinda hard to tell but looked like it might have been 1/4” NPT, get yourself a 3/8 NPT tap, see what size drill bit it recommends and go from there.

I have fixed a couple of these by finding a slightly bigger bolt (standard, metric, fine or coarse thread...it doesn't matter), coating the hole and bolt threads with JB Weld or epoxy, then forcing it into the hole with an impact.

Have one I did over 10 years ago and it is still airtight.

You may even have to drill your hole slightly oversize to find a good press fit for the new bolt.

All my method does is saves you from needing to tap new threads, crude but very effective.   8)
