What the hell happened to this site...it has no traffic, only a few experts and mostly Heatmaster discussions.
It used to be fun to read every day.

We could get Warren to check in? He could try to sell us his treatment or maybe gather some new email addresses????

I once heard that a heater core from an 80's Ford escort could be hooked up efficiently. I think I heard it from a guy pushing Natures Comfort stoves............years ago.

Gloves?

Standard ole chore gloves from TSC or Menards if its cold, if it ain’t cold I don’t wear em ever, not even for welding.

Whoa.... tough guy

Showa Atlas 300 gloves for summer use, or Showa Atlas 451 Thermafit gloves for the winter.  Comfortable and wear like iron.  Much better than the Wells Lamont cowhide gloves that I had been using for years.

I use these, bought in bulk.  When the blue starts peeling off of the gloves, they go in the trash.  Less than $1/pair.

Thanks Jon and Paintballs but both too thin. Trying to keep my finger nails from turning purple. I'm looking for an uninsulated leather work glove comparable to the split cowhide double palm.

Leather work gloves....who's wearing what? Its hard to find a good durable glove these days to cut and split firewood with. West Chester used to make a quality glove like their split cowhide double palm leather glove......

Now their junk and wear out real quick.

Any ideas for a comparable glove???

Equipment / Re: Chainsaw oils both bar and 2cycle
« on: November 20, 2017, 08:10:52 AM »
Always use Stihl 2 stroke oil. In talking to the local Stihl dealer, I was informed that 95% of the burned engines that come through his shop were using something other than Stihl oil. As far as bar oil, I use whatever is cheap. Never had any issues except for the Fleet Farm brand whatever it's called, that crap was like water

A dealer should know that engines don't burn down because of the brand of oil used. They burn down due to operator error.... wrong ratio, running a Castor oil blend in cold weather, bad gas etc.......

Roscoe do you feel the cheap bar oil flows better in cold temps? Is that why the switch up? I use the stihl oil blue and red. One in winter the other in the summer. I been working on the big saw this morning and found the hole in the bar that lets oil get to the chain was stopped up with something. Never did figure out what it was and it wasn't easy to get cleaned out. Finally blew out with air compressor after soaking in penetrating oil for a while and using small nails and wires to poke at it. Oiling perfect now.

Yeah you are correct Bluegrass. Primarily for start up in cold weather. After the power head gets hot you can run the good stuff

I've got a stihl 390 that's not oiling. Blew it out with air. The plastic screw that runs the oiler looks OK... I'm stumped.

Is this a thread about oil choices or saw repair???????

For 2 cycle I primarily use MAG1 but have used others. All mixed at 4oz. oil to 1 gallon of gas. In 30 years and 5 different brands of saws Ive never blown one up or had any engine problems.
For bar oil I use Husqvarna, Stihl, or Jonsered in the summer and the cheap stuff in the winter. There is defiantly a difference.

Got rid of the solenoid eater after one season. Best thing I ever did! Guy who bought it is still running it and hasn't developed cracks.........yet

I'm not sure what to think of this Hawken Newsletter they keep sending out.  It seems a lot like "fake news" to me.

EPA Ban On Outdoor Boilers

PLEASE REMEMBER that the EPA has now BANNED outdoor wood boilers. Therefore...Once your boiler reaches its end of life...which hopefully will not be for decades,

...YOUR DAYS OF SAVING MONEY BY BURNING WOOD WILL BE OVER!

We want to help you keep your boiler running for several more decades - helping you SAVE money for many years to come.
This is why we spend so much time on providing YOU operating tips, maintenance information, and other valuable resources to keep your outdoor wood boiler healthy and durable.

Don't miss our breaking new report on steps you can take NOW to increase the life expectancy of your outdoor boiler.  Click HERE to read this report.

For more information on the EPA rules on wood burning, click HERE. As you will see, most boilers are banned effective January 2016, and the remainder as of January 2020. Some claim to meet the 2020 "particulate" standard, but do not meet the other 2020 emissions limits. The technology does not appear to exist to meet all 2020 rules, hence the EPA has effectively banned outdoor boilers.

Yeah the Hawken / Boiler Care newsletters just about jam that liquid armor down your throat. BUY liquid armor......BUY Liquid armor......!!!!! Geez................
