Ebay chainsaw parts
« on: June 20, 2019, 02:32:28 PM »

I ran over my Husqvarna 357XP with the Bobcat so will need to replace a bunch of parts. I see cheap new parts on ebay that I am guessing are chinese copies. Is it worth giving them a try or going with used parts?

I will need the chain brake guard, main handle and clutch cover for sure. I don't think anything major is broken but I haven't taken it apart yet. After I ran it over, the throttle trigger was jammed and the clutch cover packed with dirt. I whacked the handle a few times and the trigger popped free and I dug the dirt out of the cover. It started right up and I sawed up a few more logs so I think the engine is fine.

I have bought some of them for my 371xp. The pull cover was ok, the brake handle was poor quality as far as sizing went. I had to do some Dremel work to get it to slide past the engine top cover when engaged. I think those are the only Chinese knockoffs I tried.

Had the same misfortune a few years back. Went to my local Stihl dealer and he had some used parts available from the traded in units in their boneyard.

Had a big log roll over my Stihl breaking  the handle and air cleaner cover. Found the cheep replacement parts on eBay and they worked fine. Few weeks after that I ran over my stihl polesaw with the tractor. Broke the cover on the engine. Couldn’t find that on eBay so JB weld to the rescue. Took a lot of clamping and gluing individual parts but it all came back together and works fine. I really hate the sound of expensive parts breaking!
