My furnace holds 340 gallons of water which is a large water volume.
I have mine set to about 170*
Load it about twice per day.

Mine holds 555 gallons.  Load twice a day.  My old stove held 265 gallons.  I thought the extra water capacity would reduce wood consumption but I don't believe it has.

My homemade holds roughly 275, if in the frenzy of harvest I forget to load it at night, and as long as it's not too cold out the house is still warm in the morning.

Working on getting my waste oil boiler hooked to the wood boiler. Waste oil boiler holds 425-450ish, I figure unless its utterly stupid cold out with almost 700 gallons of hot water I should be good for a forgetful night once in awhile.

 I was thinking of 500 plus gallons.

I don't believe it conserves any energy I was just wondering how you burned, like a smaller stove with the fire cycling on and off or batch burn.

I batch burn with mine, it holds 650ish gallons and I'll burn the fire full out till it gets up to 180 then use that heat. It normally last 12hrs or so so I burn twice a day.

I do live in a milder climate (N.C.) than most on here so a large volume of water may not be as efficient in the north.

How is everyone else burning with storage?

  My Empyre 200 holds 75 gallons.... Not very much in comparison.

i batch burn with mine also.the whole system is about 500 gallons.load it about twice a day also.
the only thing is my firebox is small so it seems to work better when i batch burn with mine.
and hardly ever any smoke except for ten minutes at the beginning.
