Central Boiler / Re: strap on
« on: December 19, 2013, 03:19:01 AM »
The 165/170 deg shut off is what Im after with mine. Im running my 5036 at 185/195.At 170 its out of fuel. I also want to wire a switch that interupts the power to my wall hung gas job until the temp drops to 165. Just resently I was going away over night and the low tept was forcasted to be -10. I stoked woody and put him in stand by and put on the Baxi til i got home. Worked great. I wished Id thought of that trick years ago.

Central Boiler / strap on
« on: December 11, 2013, 03:15:23 PM »
Ez now. I had a guy over and had him check out my system. He said that he would put on a strap on themostat on the discharge pipe on the boiler that would shut off  power to the damper if the temp drops below 160 degs. anyone done this?
I work long shifts and on cold nights the damper is open and theres no fire or wood. The damper would be closed and stop cold air from going through the boiler.
sounds like a great idea to me.

Also the latch bolt can leak where it goes through the door frame.

Central Boiler / Burning junk.
« on: October 15, 2013, 03:25:45 AM »
In my 5036 I have been loading it with brush and junk wood and some junk mail as well. I don't use it during the summer except to get rid of this stuff. Question is does it do damage to the stove burning for a short time and then cooling down again. Temp may get to 170 or so.
I've done this probably 3 times through the summer.

i got one on my 5036 and wired in a switch and across the bottom i drilled 1'' holes to allow natural draft.I use it for stubborn fires.I used it about 5 times this past winter. works great.

Check this one out, it's smoking like this all the time

Look at what it is, it's just a box inside a box and filled with water so the fire never gets hot enough to burn the smoke. When I see that I think of all the wasted energy (smoke ) going right up the chimney, this should be reburned and turned into real heat as the newer gasification boilers do and let me say the claims of burning half the wood can be very accurate, I am certainly not a tree hugger but why cut more wood than you have to. Maybe I'm just lazy or I don't like to aggravate the neighbors, that same brand at one time was the #1 priority boiler on my states DEP hit list,  it was installed 15 feet from the neighbors property line (a large catholic church) and ran for years but they removed it last year.
this is how i fill mine in the morning.Get the blood flowing. If you notice there is little smoke.

I have a Baxi luna 330 and I use that for heat during the shoulder months.real effecent. and I use it for my demestic hw year round.I like to use it just to make sure it is operating properly. as for heating hot water i think the baxi or any gas boiler is cheep to run and not worth the expence to hook up the wood boiler. My system is not an automtic set up like mentioned earlier.I do have to change the valves around.

check your damper for crap around it and make sure your door seal is ok.

If that were the case it would be cycling even less, because it would be gettin air even when it wasn't needing it.

Hopefully how he's checkin his temps isn't accurate
yep I understand.
