Title: Thermostat wiring
Post by: skyking on October 01, 2011, 07:08:34 PM
I got my P&M Optimizer fired up today, am real happy with it so far.  Had one glitch and need a little help.  I wired in a Honeywell L6006 aquastat in so I could control OWB and forced air gas furnace with one thermostat.  It worked fine except that I went ouside and heard my AC running.  I shut off 220 breaker to the AC and thought that would do it, it did shut off, but could hear humming coming from it, I assume a solenoid to turn it on?  I disconnected the thermosat wires going to the outside unit and everything is working fine.  I thought I had it wired right and it does work right ie:  when 6006 is set at 100* only the fan comes on.  I wired the R on the 6006 to the W on the thermostat, the B on the 6006 to the W on the furnace, and the W to the G terminals  on both therm. and furnace.  Didn't mess with the Y or comp. terminals at all.  Any ideas?  Thanks for the  help.  I did take pictures but  can't get them off my I phone.  Will try later.

I always forget what the wire letters mean but you have to take the wire for the fan switch off the thermostat and connect it to the other wire. You can't just add it to the screw. If you do it runs the AC.

Okay, it makes sense.  I was following the schematics on an old  post.  Thanks.

Just changed the wiring, it works perfectly in both gas and owb (and AC stayed off).  Thanks, RSI!
