I used Fluid Film when I cleaned out this spring.  It is still shines with a oil finish.  Much better than motor oil and diesel fuel that I have used in the past.  Fluid Film is the way to go!!

Perhaps we should be promoting it by putting a bottle in the boiler when it's sold like we do the boiler treatment, I have always used transmission fluid but I think perhaps the fluid film would be a better choice

I think it's main use is rust prevention under vehicles, sprays or brushes on and seals temporarily better than paint, I'm going to try some next season and ask Brian to think about adding it to our treatment program.

Thanks, Slimjim.  That's is definitely something to consider.  I'll have to look around up here to see who may have it.  Thanks, Roger

Yes guys its a corrosion protection oddly enough its been around for a long time just never promoted enough. It's a lonolin based product which comes from compressing sheep's wool I believe but it constantly is spreading to untreated metal so it will leech into cracks and pores and will remain indefinitely or until you start up your boiler in the spring. Slim that is a great idea as part of the package its fairly cheap for everyone to buy but at least get new owners familiar with it. Oh and no I'm not a salesman just a believer after trying it on my truck since they like to spray magnesium chloride (highly corrosive like salt) on all the dirt roads around here for dust control

That fluid film looks like good stuff.  I have never heard of it.

I use LPS-3 rust inhibitor on mine.  http://www.lpslabs.com/product-details/612  One can lasts 2 years.  Spray mainly on the ash pan and blower door hinges that will rust.  Lighter fog on the inside of the boiler where there is stainless steel.  Furnace is the same in fall as I left it in the spring.  I am happy with the results and it is a lot easier than bottling and spraying oil.

Fluid Films website.

We use the stuff on anything that might be exposed to 6-15-40, 10-34-0 or 28% nitrogen, the only stuff that might be more corrosive than fertilizer would be battery acid.

I don't buy Never Seize anymore, just use Fluid Film in it's place.
