Yeah, that's locust alright. Best firewood out there. Only thing hotter is coal!
Hard on a chain tho. Especially if you find one 75 years old and 12" diameter on a rocky ridge.
It is some crazy good burning wood. Don't think either me or the father in law knew what it was. I got it in log sections and the bottom of the tree is about 10-12". When I went to cut it I thought I may have had a dull chain on at first. Nope cut through the maple like butter. I wish I had more of this stuff, it burns so hot and long. Even my ash pan was glowing orange.
