General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Thermostat by-pass valve ???

When I first installed by outdoor wood furnace (CB-2300) 7 years ago, CB recommended that I install a thermostat by-pass valve, which only allows wood furnace heated water above 150 degrees to reach the heat exchanger. I still don't understand why this is needed and I am thinking of getting rid of it after this heating season as it has malfunctioned several times. Can someone out there tell me why I need this and what would happen if I removed it ?......

Central Boiler / E-Classic 2300 (2009) - Firebox door issue

Hello,
I have an E-Classic 2300 manufactured in 2009 and I have encountered a little problem. I recently replaced my door gasket for the first time and noticed what appeared to be some crumbling of the door insulating material that is bolted under the metal panel that faces the fire. This appears to be causing some smoke/air to escape the firebox and leak through the door when the fan is on. I believe that CB provides a replacement kit for the fire box door parts. Does anyone out there have a similar experience ? Cost ?
