I have done the same thing with my Nest. OWB is on H1 and electric backup is on H3.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: what brand stoves do you feel comfortable referring people too?? HONEST QUESTION

I wish the tech support from Central Boiler was a bit better. I have been given the runaround when dealing with them about the Firestar controller. Love the quality and operation of my M250 though.

I set my M250 for 187 degrees during the depth of winter, back it down to 183 during shoulder/summer time.

Central Boiler / Re: Maxim Thermal Valve leaking

I haven't had mine apart, but what about a shot or two of compressed air back up the hose? I would imagine some particle of gunk is stuck on the valve seat?

« on: January 13, 2018, 01:32:16 PM »Is that a raspberry pi? I was thinking a raspberry pi with thermalcouples connected and setup with a static ip and running a Wi-Fi module to a website with constant display and graph to track temp. It's an arduino. That's basically what I am doing, I am logging to a mysql server and then pulling from that to populate the webpage I am building.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: Subzero -24f
« on: December 31, 2017, 12:29:32 PM »Oak slabs Makes for fast recovery heat . -24f low for last night . and high of -7f yesterday . and were in for another big subzero tonight .Just about those same temps back home for me too. Wife is snug with the M250 and a bin full of pellets!
6600 sqft heating . takes a bit of wood . Starting to think is it warmer in Alaska ?

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: Generator interlock
« on: December 22, 2017, 03:01:41 PM »I agree. And I understand how my setup is not as safe as it should be.Would feeding a sub panel with a receptacle be up on code?
I have no idea.
I kinda doubt it. The whole ideal of an interlock is so its impossible to back feed the line with a generator.
With this set up it is impossible to back feed. From that regard it is safe. I believe the issue is running a permanent install (sub panel) from a non permanent wire (heavy extension and plug/receptacle). The codes in some jurisdictions may frown on it.

Interlocks? Pshh! I just have mine backfeed through a 30A 240V breaker from my feed on the corner of the deck...
I guess I did buy the female connector to act as a cap so that if someone turns the breaker on it won't zap ya!
Used it once so far, 12-26-16:

I'm pondering draining and flushing my system and going to a 100% water route, with some anti-corrode and perhaps biocide and maybe a UV sterilizer? Anyone try one of those? Any recommendations for flushing agents? I want to basically reset the system that has been in use for some time...

I set up a couple thermocouples to do some testing on Delta T measurement.

Site Suggestions / Re: Like/Tag option?
« on: December 09, 2017, 08:31:36 AM »I looked at IPB, looks interesting. However I’ve been involved with switches before, something always gets lost in the process. Can they guarantee everything would transfer over without a hitch? They offer transfer services, to be honest I have never been involved in any. I have only ever managed IPB software.

What about a migration to IPB?
