Title: Fired up!
Post by: MattyNH on October 12, 2018, 07:32:24 PM
Today fired up my wood boiler for the 2018/19 heating season..Pretty nice not hearing the oil boiler firing up.. Highs only in the 50's and lows in the 30's and 20's coming up in NH..Ive been reading that households should expect higher heating oil costs this yr compared to last yr, yuck! Burn wood!

Flipped the switch on the waste oil boiler to Auto a few days ago.

Forecast here doesn’t call for consistent enough cold temps to fire the G200 up yet. Besides I have 600 gallons to bring home yet. Two 250 gallon totes and two 55 gallon drums worth of liquid wood.

Put in 2 DIY heat pumps in this year to get through the shoulder seasons. Working good so far.

I've been using the pellet stove to take the chill out of the living quarters.  I'll be firing up the CB 550 HD at the end of the month due to my busy schedule.  Roger

We named our boiler Buford the dragon. we fired ole Buford up about a week ago and am very pleased with the start up. Got down in freezing range last night and about a half a firebox of seasoned red oak got me 12 hours easily. Gonna be a long winter I'm afraid.

I fired up Sept 22.  It was off and on for the first few days, and it has been pretty much on since Oct 1.  Heavy frost and trace of snow the last couple mornings.

I was intending on firing up today, but I forgot I had pulled the silicone off of the door gasket in the spring and I never replaced it.  Oops.  I ran to the store and bought some high temp silicone and fixed it up.  I'll be able to fire up tomorrow after it cures.  I got my first load of wood on Friday and I'm ready to go.

Fortunately, it hasn't been too cold here, yet.  We've had a few frosts, but I don't think it's dipped below 25 yet and it's supposed to touch 70 again this week for a day.
