Portage & Main / Newly installed A421abc-02 temp controller won't engage draft blower
« on: November 11, 2024, 01:05:09 PM »
I installed a new Johnson A421abc-02 to replace my faulty A419abc-2c temp controller on my 2014 P&M BL2840 boiler, are the wire connections different on the wire terminal block of the new controller?
1st photo is the old controller connection
2nd photo is on the new controller. On this controller, photo shows the black wire connected to the 240v as was the old controller, this 240 didn't work with the new controller so I connected to the 120v. Controller engages but not the draft blower.
Does anyone have experience on replacing a A419 to A421?
Much appreciated for any help, my boiler is down and cold weather has moved in into Wisconsin, highs in 40's, lows in the 20'sF

Electronics / Johnson A419abc-02 Temp Controller
« on: November 06, 2024, 11:13:10 AM »
My Johnson A419abc-2c Temp Controller on my Portage&Main owb is no longer working correctly, it's been in use for 10 years now. Apparently this model is longer available. Is there a replacement available for the A419abc-2c? I see the model A421abc-02 is available, would this be the replacement for the older version?
Currently my boiler is shut down until i get a new temp controller.

I got tired of waiting for those over night temps 20's, way over due this fall, so I threw in the match a few days ago.

I draw off the top, had no boiling issues in the last two winters of operation, even on gusty NW winds (30-40 mph), my BL would tend to overheat to about 205 degrees, normal setting at 180.

Tried out the new logging tools for about an hour today, worked great, including using a 16" bar on my Husky 272. Very easy on my back.

Got'em this week. Now to tackle my 21 cord oak log pile, average log size 12", most of it found behind my stacked firewood.

Same here with my P & M 2840, enough til the next fill up. I believe it will burn less efficient when filled over 2/3 full IMHO. Good to have more open space to allow for heat to metal contact.

I ordered this cant hook the other day:
http://www.woodchucktool.com/dual
This other one will have to wait til Christmas. My brother and his son each have one, says, best thing to come along for handling logs and big round firewood.

I turn mine on once every month. On my old furnace of 13 years, never turned it on during summer, same pump still works, I saved it as a back up for this furnace.
