General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Using OWB as a meat smoker
« on: October 15, 2008, 01:22:21 PM »
I am wondering if anyone has ever used their OWB as a meat smoker. I am thinking about using my OWB at times as a smoker. I would only use Hickory, Cherry, Apple woods. I have a Hardy H-2, my plan would be to only use a small amount of wood get the inside hot and create a lot of smoke, then use a stainless steel grate to lay my meat on so it gets smoke all around the meat. I would make sure there is no other woods/coal to contaminate the flavor or the meat. Does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone tried this.

Hardy / How Much $$$$ have you saved
« on: March 27, 2008, 02:18:09 PM »
This year I have saved between $1400.00 to $1600.00 in electric. I was total electric before I put in my Hardy H-2. My electric bills last winter averaged about $220 to $275 to heat the house. This winter my highest electric bill has been $82.14.. I also never run out of hot water

I bought a Jonsenred chainsaw. It is one of the best saws I have ever owned. The best purchase I ever made was an electric chainsaw sharpener from Lowe's (it only cost me $30). It cut my sharpening time by 80%, and what an edge it puts on a chain.

Fire Wood / The Best Wood
« on: March 26, 2008, 09:42:48 PM »
Anyone have any ideas of which kind of wood is the best to burn, I have been burning a lot of sycamore and it does not do to bad. I also have used oak, locust. What wood last the longest.

Hello to all the new users, I have a Hardy H-2 OWB. This is the best investment that I have ever made. This is my first year using this wood burner. I have saved approx $1200.00 so far. Everything that the dealer told me was true. It works great. All the safety components work well, I left the draft door open all day, the machine did exactly what is was suppose to do. If you like being outside doing a little work you can save a lot $$$$$.
