Portage & Main / Thanks for a successful burning season BL-3444
« on: April 19, 2016, 06:22:08 AM »
Well the temps are up to the high 40's at night so I have finally turned of my BL-3444. I have turned the power to the boiler off and have been letting it burnout. I put a small amount of wood in it Saturday night but as of Monday evening it was still around 170 degrees. Do you guys and gals have any things that you usually do at seasons end that work for you guys? I am planning on covering the stack and cleaning all the ashes out obviously. Thanks and I cant wait until the cold weather comes back.

sceptre74 yeah I agree, I love it that Brian calls. I know I am biased and not putting down any other stoves but in my opinion if you are in the market for a stove and thinking of buying another stove you might just be down right silly

I agree with the last 2 posts! How many other companies have the level of customer care that P&M does? None that I have encountered. I am glad I bought a P&M and appreciate all they have done.

Thanks for the info; I took some pieces out and it did OK. I spoke with Brian at P&M he suggested to cover the stack if it was drawing, which I did just to be safe. This wont happen again, our power was out for just under 12 hours, I bought a generator I hated to do that and spend that money but its better to have heat and a healthy boiler I guess  :)

ok we are starting to get some bad weather that could bring down power lines. I dont have a backup generator. I am afraid if we do lose power my boiler will overheat. Am i correct in thinking this? If so how can i prevent this?
Thanks in advance

I had this happen with mine once this year. This is my 1st year having the BL 3444 and I love it. Here is what I found in my case. I had a hot bed of coals that was around 180 degrees I loaded the wood in such a way it lowered the temp to almost 140 and just about put the fire out. Both my loops were calling for heat and there was too much space in between the pieces. I quickly freaked out and though something was majorly wrong. when i adjusted the logs it took off and the temp went up quickly. Right now I am getting about 24 hours burn time with temps around the teens at night heating 2 building one at 68 and the other at 60 as well as DHW. Hope this helps

I have had my BL 3444 fired up for three weeks now and I couldn't be happier. I have it heating my home, including basement, DHW, and a pole barn. I am also working to hook up my attached garage today. I am really excited at the amount of wood its burning or lack of wood I am burning I should say. When they say the P&M's burn less I can guarantee you that is correct. This is my 1st boiler and I had some questions. Upon calling P&M and speaking with Brian Martin those questions were quickly answered. It is totally refreshing and reassuring to know that any time I have a question I could call and get the help I need. I hope to put up pictures soon for everyone to see and get feedback from. I want to thank everyone for the responses they have given me and a special thanks to Brian Martin and everyone at P&M for everything. I cant wait for the years of burning in the future.

I talked to a guy I work with who is an electrician and he thinks it should be fine but if my house burns down he said not to call him so that was reassuring ha
