Been running the furnace for alot of years now .The only real problem that i have is not knowing what the temp is . Its only the wife and i at home and some times i work long hours . Furnace is 200' away from the house . As far as how much do i want to spend , I'd say like 100-200 . I will check that site , control by web . thanks .

Well i finally have wifi at my house . I'm looking for options for viewing the furnace temp. I only need to see it , not interested in changing it as i rarely ever do. I'm currently using a Ranco on a Shaver 290 stove. So far i've been leaning towards using a security camera but hopefully theres a better way . Thanks in advance.

Shaver Furnace / Re: extending the chimney on a 165

The adapter has some stops welded in place to only allow it to slide down several inches. I cant remember if i used hi temp silicone or stove pipe cement when i did mine. Just seal it up when you install it and you will be fine.

I have mine extended and running through a metal roof. I used Shaver's adapter. From there i used Tripple wall Stainless pipe.No creosote problem at all. Works good.

Second year for heating the pool. 15x30 above ground.  Works good . Takes a solid day to raise temp 12* or so.  I use a cheap pool solar cover when its still cool at nights. Without it you lose lots of heat. Once water is up to 85* plus its easy to keep it there. Haven't got around to hooking it up in auto mode.I just flip a switch at the furnace for the pump and make sure the filter is running. Nothing like having a warm pool.

Well I have to disagree. I think the site is great but like all forums some of the regulars form a click and start atacking other members if they dont see things their way. Its a shame but its here .

General Discussion / Re: anyone with a carport for a wood shed?

This one was across the road from my dad's house. There were several in the area collapsed from the snow. Make yourself a snow rake to be safe.

The price you see is for the basic style. You can add any option you want . One thing to consider.  Upgraging  the ribs or humps of the metal running horizontal, changing this to run vertical to allow snow and ice to slide off. My dad has to go out and use a roof rake to get the snow off his. Here's a  couple of sites to look at.

Shaver Furnace / Re: HELP! I hate my SHAVER!

You can get an adapter from Shaver that slips on over top your pipe and has stops welded in to keep it from sliding down. Thats what i used . I had some triple wall stainless pipe left over from my wood stove and had to get another adapter to use it . It works well and no real creosote drip to worry about. Can get you a pic if needed.

Yep,   Same way. I had to shut off the breaker for the a/c unit.

No the digital stat will not turn off your pump .It will just turn on the blower for your furnace. You can let your pumps run if you want.

That piece of metal warped on mine too. Not a problem .I like the fire up front . Seems like the fire has to stay inside a little longer that way. Most people dont even load the back of the stove for this reason.
