Check Valve in Pump Yes or No
« on: October 04, 2013, 01:39:32 PM »

My pumps have a check valve in the inlet. Do I keep them in or pull them out?
Do these effect the flow charactoristics of the pump?

It does restrict flow a little. See flow for a Grundfos 15-58 below.
Also, it can cause the pump to get airlocked in certain situations so best to just remove it if it isn't needed.

Absolutely get rid of it on the wood boiler loop, get all the plastic out, if you bring your water feed in between 2 ball valves it allows you to fill the boiler from the supply or the return, thus pushing any air that is trapped back to the wood boiler and vented out the top
