What Hydraulic filter are you guys running on your splitters?
I want to replace mine and contacted Northern Tool for a replacement because I could not find it on their website. They forwarded me to North Star and I was told it was phone order only through North Star and the price was $29.99 +s/h !!!
My splitter is the 37ton vertical/horizontal.

Most likely just a standard filter, take it off, measure the thread diameter and number of threads per inch and I’m sure Wix, Fram or any other brand will have one for less than 30 bucks. I have a tractor that the hydraulic filter is almost 200 bucks from Agco, I can get it from Wix for $90.

Not sure how big your filter is but I have a 31 ton splitter with a spin on filter that is standard on most splitters sold at Farm supply style stores. Our local Farm and Fleet sells a 10 micron and a 25 micron filter for them and they are $5.99 for either one. Our Tractor Supply store sells the 25 micron one for$12.99. They are the size of a large style automotive filter, about 4" in diameter and 6 to 7" tall.

I'm familiar with the farm store splitters/filters. The one on my 37ton is 2x the size of any found there.

Did you try having your local NAPA or auto parts store crossing it to see if they have a substitute for less money?
-
DO you have a part number for it?
-
Did you try the parts lookup on the northern site? I just picked a random splitter since I don't know your model# and came up with this for the filter. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200466915_200466915

I buy all my filters from a web site called filterone.com. they only sell wix filters which I've never had any problem with. They ship free on orders over $50 too. They have a reference guide to cross reference numbers. I usually put together a big order and get filters for everything we own at once. prices are pretty fair as well
