The recent manuals had an about face on the pump location.  It should be near the top.

Wink
Give it another month to do the comparison, sometimes they are back several weeks and depending when they read the meter,

a high efficiency heat pump is the best at using low electric, if someone is using electric as main heat source.

Shaver Furnace / Re: Burning coal in a Shaver 250 furnace

Hi Shoreman

I would not use much of it, the grates are not stout enough.  Occasional use would probably be fine, as even Shaver does say you can use it.

Where would you get in from in Salisbury?  Maybe try a ton for your 1st order and mix it in.  1 ton of coal should be equivalent to 1 cord.  Get hard coal if you can.

With regular sized split wood, it takes mine to go from well water cold 55 to 170 in 1 hour.  After a 12 hour burn, I still have enough left that I just throw in the days supply and refill at night.

I can't imajine what your temp gauge is measuring with a fire going all day with coals and wood left over that your temps are that low.

If your water was 110 your blower would never shut off.......

I'll check this weekend, but maybe not needed an exact replacment just one that is ridgid ebough to help close the gate.

You can always force the fan to run by temporary increase in your aquastat.  I do that on occasion.

Jerry,
Yea I'd just wait till spring, it looks like your going to have to reroute your electric also.  Besides gravity holding the flap close, the right length of the plastic hose shoves it tight to reduce un-needed draft flow.

What about the CFM's I just got the 75cfm moter and installed it.  Ive been finding that if the wood is a little wet the 75 cfm motor
seems to nock the fire down it seems to work better with the 50 cfm motor am I crazy ?

You could just adjust the flapper if your going to burn green wood.  return it to normal when back to seasoned wood.

I would go to the one with no elements first, then to the other. This will allow you to store and preheat.  Insulated blankest if you do not already have them and I'll bet your electriC will not come on often.

Shaver Furnace / Re: My shaver 165 can't keep up....
« on: January 14, 2012, 12:57:38 PM »

165 is only putting out at max 150kbtu s,   so I'd say your under sized especially since you have had 3 years to adjust and learn the system.

To confirm, isolate the shop and see what kind of burn times you get with just the house.
