Very nice series of pics.  Looks like excellent craftsmanship on your part too.  I notice the change of seasons in the pictures.  How long was the total build time?

This is our sons stove. He had to do all the work out side,so the weather played a big part in it taking so long.He works long hours and that didn't help much either.It was September through November. It took a long time but it turned out good and it works very well.

Good job, Its nice to see the process and the inside of the boiler. It looks like you did your homework. How much did the material cost ?

It cost 65 dollars each to roll the inner and outer drums.All of the steel, the water jacket,the fire box ,the plate for the ends,the crossover tubing and the steel for the frame work was less than 1000 dollars. All of the major parts are 1/4". The vent pipe is 8" well casing.The pump and all of the controls were about 435 dollars. This does not include the pex and the water to air HX for the indoor furnace and all of the copper fittings and copper pipe to make the side arm and the rest of indoor piping. All and all it turned out pretty well and works very well for what he has invested in it.

Hi Ron,,,, Where did he get the steel??  I wanted to build a round stove, but just to have outer drum rolled was going to cost me $2000.00 at WV Steel in Charleston, WV.  I was going to have it rolled 48" in diameter, and 5 foot in length, and use 1/4" mild steel (A-36).  That was the outer drum only.  I'd gladly drive a ways to save that kind of money. 

What size is his inner and outer drums??

mark, try a junk yard or if you are near a piping contractor you might buy your 48 inch pipe allready rolled and welded     thats how i got mine    i got mine for free from a "shutdown" at a re-fit in one of the plants i work at for free but my uncle bought his at the local scrap yard 42 inch outside and 36 inch inside, both for about 400 bucks and both near 1/2 inch thick

look for old propane tanks too.  I have a 250 gallon (30" diameter) and a 500 gallon (36" diameter) available if needed by someone.

RW,  I am very impressed, wish you could have added a narrative with each photo.  I do a little fabracting myself but nothing that complicated.  Looks really good.
