HeatMaster / Re: HeatMaster MF10000e

Dealer in my area found another dealer that is overstocked and is willing to sell my dealer which is closer to me for $9,050 for the MF10000e. He is trying to get another 2 customers to buy to save on shipping.

Where are you located woodbutcher?  The way I understand the law, as long as the furnace was built and in the United States before 15 May it can be sold anyhwere until 31 December.
I'm located in Wis. about 50 miles north of Milwaukee. I can only tell you what the dealer told me, that is he is out of stock and would have to order the boiler and if it is ordered, it can only be sold for commercial use.

Maybe Slim can help with this. Dealer in my area told me he can't sell a conventional unit if it is not in stock. If he has to order it, it can only be for a business. Got a price on the MF10000e and for $9,300 he can order me one and say it is for a business. He is out of stock, he got 4 units in a couple of weeks ago and a guy came in and bought up all 4. Still thinking of replacing my old CB, going on 17 years now. I don't like the gassers, don't have a building to store the wood to keep it dry.

Plumbing / Re: ADD EXTRA PUMP??
« on: March 18, 2015, 08:16:31 AM »
When I installed my owb 15 years ago, the dealer told me to put the pump in the basement. He said that if it goes out it won't be when the temp is in the 30's. I did and never regretted it. I did have a Y strainer in the line before the pump and the cartage went out almost once a year. Dealer told me to remove it and keep the pump running year around. Since I did this, the pump has never died in the last 4 years running non stop with no filter.

I found the website where it always was. I can't
figure out why you can't get to it.

Plumbing / Re: O2 Barrier PEX or NOT??
« on: October 01, 2014, 09:10:05 AM »
I used CB's pex on my CB model CL400 boiler when I purchased it and it did not have the oxygen barrier and it failed in 6 years. The new thermpex  that was a replacement for the old pex has an oxygen barrier and it has been in use for over 8 years and no failure. When I replaced the old pex it was as brittle as glass. This has been my experience with pex. I think it is better to go with the oxygen barrier from the start than it is to replace it latter on.

Sounds like a good model to stay away from. Are they the same boiler just with a different name?

I've never seen one in action. I can only guess that when you open up the boiler, which opens like a freezer, I would assume you are going to have a lot of smoke and sparks come out of it. There are a lot of front loading boilers on the market that can handle large pieces of wood and put out 500,000 btu's. P&M model BL 3848 and Crown Royal Model RS 7500 just to name a couple that put out 500,000 btu's.

Just watched a video on u tube on the 4400. I like to see the boiler in action. Poor filming but this unit looks like a solid model.

  Where are you located Woodbutcher?
South Central WI. About 50 miles north of Milwaukee.

You're right. I have never seen a P&M anyplace close to to me. I wish I could see one in operation.
I didn't come up with this solution, CB did. And I was bias about my CB. That was the old model. I don't think I would by the new model 6048 which runs over $9,000.,and the gassers over $12,000. Owner of P&M boilers are just no ware to be found in my area.

Sticking it out with the Heat Master sound like the way I would go if I were a dealer and see what the future brings. Closing down should be the last resort.

I wish I would have known that Logstor was that flexible. I had to replace my line about 8 years ago. CB used a 2 line system in a 6" dia. insulated Styrofoam tube. It did not have a oxygen barrier and the pex turned into a line that was as brittle as glass. I installed the line in a 7" sewer pipe in case I would have to replace it, that was a good decision. Dealer came with the new line similar to Logstor but not very flexible. I didn't have a choice at the time, I got it for the cost of the new line minus the cost of the old line. Dealer brought it on a trailer with a 15' dia. coil. Unrolled out it wanted to curl back up. It is a good pex line and well insulated but you can't bend a 8' piece. Just wish I would have know about Logstor.

Sorry to see that you are closing down. I still think Heat Master has a great web site with a cut away of how the boiler works. It might take a couple of more years before the gassers are perfected to where the price might come a little more in line with the older models. Maybe Slim will get you started in a new line.
