Bruised finger nail / crushed finger from loading
« on: November 10, 2015, 12:00:30 AM »

I'm starting the season off early with a crushed finger, crushed the nail pretty hard.  I did the same thing last year in a hurry, throw a large piece in and bounces back down on your hand.  The nail bruises really bad and takes forever to grow out.  My buddy had it even worse requiring stitches literally blew out his finger.  Any other boiler injury stories?

Ouch, that hurts!!!!! I've had some mishaps over the years from carelessness, never crushed a finger but certainly trimmed my beard and hair a few times very quickly.

No injuries but like slimjim, I too experienced one of those of hair trimmings with the razor known as the fireball; I opened the door too soon at the end of a cycle.  This next one is somewhat humorous; About 2 years ago I was cleaning the primary air holes of creosote buildup in my E-Classic 1400, I had one of those sneezes that sneak up on you when you are not expecting it and I ended up the nicest shade of black covering my face.  The only thing that was white was around my eyes, my glasses protected them.  Roger

During my over heating episode I removed the ash pan with heavy leather gloves only to realize it was white hot.  Ouch!

Ouch!  The finger busting is a rite of passage!  Usually a Season 1 injury, if not every year!!

No major injuries so far.  Just finally fired up last night.  I have banged a few fingers.   Definitely a hair cut or two!

Smashed the holy crap out of two fingers once, probably should have gone to ER.

Was working on the kitchen installing new subfloor during the remodel, went out to load the boiler before I forgot, had a nice large piece and as I took a step forward to chuck it in my knee popped and I barely stumbled but was enough to cause a misstep, didn’t let go fast enough and smashed ring and middle between the wood and the door frame. Wife seen it after I did it and about threw up, made me go in and bandage it up, had nothing but large gauze so I told her to get the kitchen shears, she brought em in and before she could say anything I took em and cut the loose meat off, then she did throw up.

Got em bandaged up and went back to screwing subfloor down. Ate a few of her Vicodin she had left over after her last open heart, 500mgs. Then drank a beer, screwed and glued another piece down, ate a few Vicodin and had a beer. Never did quit throbbing. Went to the VFW as it was dollar beer night and drowned my sorrow in cheap beer and a few more Vicodin. Did I mention I can eat most prescription painkillers like Skittles and they have little to no effect?

A few years ago I went out of town during the winter for a week.  My wife had to load the stove which she never does.
One night, she was tossing a log through the door but missed, and smashed her fingers between the log and the door frame.

Broke two fingers.

Get well soon.

No injuries to report tonight but my wedding ring did fly into the fire ha.  Newly married... loaded up the stove, realized 30 minutes later hey what happened to my ring.  I'm pretty sure it flew off with a piece of wood I was loading.   :bash:

Been fired up for about two weeks now. No injuries yet. I have had a couple of fireballs over the years though.

Smashed my thumb between the door frame and a log once, fractured it and left a nice bruise.  Never know how much you use your left thumb till you can't for a month.  Did it right around a holiday to make it worse.
