I'm going to see if I can count the rings, big ole tree, largest piece out of the trunk has to be 5 foot across. Right next to our local tavern which used to be the local whorehouse when a passenger train still went thru town.

Thats one hell of a pole for the girls to dance around, I'd sometimes love to send Gitwood somewhere other than upstairs in my house but there probably isn't enough hot little girls and beer to keep him happy

I'll measure it before splitting with the skid steer splitter, I think the forks for the Bobcat are 30", the biggest piece almost tipped off before I got the forks rolled all the way back.

Was my guess, what we call rock maple around here, hard as a rock to cut and just as bad to split.

My Dad went out and counted rings, he said a 179, but he also said he wants to brush it off then use the air hose to blow it off, he thinks he might have missed several rings while counting.
