I have 13 year old Central Boiler Classic 5036 that I noticed, at the start up this past October, is leaking a black sooty looking water. It's not a lot, but every day it's moist on the slab at the bottom left rear of the unit. Also, it is still full of water as I check it daily. I've not added any water to it. Anyone have any idea of what this might be? Maybe some condensation from someplace inside the wall of the unit?
Thanks. |

Has anybody ever had to replace their burner motor on a Maxim 250. Mine is 12 years old, and I think it is showing its age, or I have really dense pellets. I am thinking it is the motor.

Hey all... my heat exchanger is about 10 years old... and I think the age... and also the fact that I used the wrong filters, gummed it all up. not getting much heat transfer from my OWB loop to my OIL BOILER Loop. So I am going to replace it.
I have always been of the mindset... that Central Boiler made great products... Though I know they have always outsourced their heat exchangers... now I see they are no longer American Made... and still want almost 500 bucks for a 5x12 - 50 plate with 1.25 NPT fittings. Which is fine if they are the best.... and only way to go... but are their other options - that are not a waste of money? Any experience or recommendations with not CB heat exchangers? I found this one... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BLLY6MLH/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2WGAPI6WQ1R37&psc=1 but dont want to save 150 bucks just to kick myself later. Also.... I see they are now recommending they be mounted vertically... is it worth redoing all my plumbing to make a vertical mount work... or just stick with the horizontal? Thanks! |

I installed a new Johnson A421abc-02 to replace my faulty A419abc-2c temp controller on my 2014 P&M BL2840 boiler, are the wire connections different on the wire terminal block of the new controller?
1st photo is the old controller connection 2nd photo is on the new controller. On this controller, photo shows the black wire connected to the 240v as was the old controller, this 240 didn't work with the new controller so I connected to the 120v. Controller engages but not the draft blower. Does anyone have experience on replacing a A419 to A421? Much appreciated for any help, my boiler is down and cold weather has moved in into Wisconsin, highs in 40's, lows in the 20'sF |

My Johnson A419abc-2c Temp Controller on my Portage&Main owb is no longer working correctly, it's been in use for 10 years now. Apparently this model is longer available. Is there a replacement available for the A419abc-2c? I see the model A421abc-02 is available, would this be the replacement for the older version?
Currently my boiler is shut down until i get a new temp controller. |

Ran the boiler a couple days twice this fall to protect the lines from freezing and put a little heat in the work shop. Today I opened all the valves and plugged in both pumps and had only a few drops of water leak from the valves as I turned them. I think we are on for the rest of the heating season.

We had a 3 day cold spell, ran the boiler for those three days and shut her down with no leaks. This is getting better each heating season. Hope things are good!

That's a lot to deal with. I wonder if all the free wood has some extra grit in it??

I hope others did better with Helene than we did here.Over a week on generator and 2 weeks without phone and internet and just was able to get past the 20 foot ravine that used to be our driveway . But I sure gained a yard full of firewood with what floated in and what was cut I'll be sawing for quite a while. Seriously though I would have never imagine we'd have water on the property even though we were within 300 of the creek. When half the hill side slid down and caused a total washout of the main road that made me a believer! Overhauling the He1100 so far has proved to be a big improvement in burning !
Hope all is good for everyone! wt |
