Central Boiler / Re: Temperature Gauge
« on: November 09, 2018, 09:24:16 AM »
Went back out to the stove and the temperature is jumping all over the place????  I have a meat thermometer on the water lines and I know the temp is 185.  I turned power off to stove until I can figure it out.

Central Boiler / Temperature Gauge
« on: November 09, 2018, 08:34:15 AM »
Started my CB 5036 up this morning.  When I turned stove on the water temp gauge read 48.  Started a fire and came back an hour later and the damper door was closed and the temperature gauge read "---".  Turned the power off and back on.  Same thing.  Did it again and it started working again.

Questions:
What caused that?
Is it something I should be concerned about?

Thanks

Central Boiler / Re: Solenoid fuse

I've looked on the local auto parts stores websites and can't seem to find them.

They don't blow immediately.  I am going to see if anyone else chimes in, but I am most likely going to replace the solenoid and pick up a pack of fuses.

Central Boiler / Solenoid fuse

I am currently on my third solenoid fuse (used 2 today) in the past 2 weeks. This is the second year on my 5036 and I am operating the stove the same way I did last year. My neighbor has a 5036 and has never had this problem. I've been keeping the damper as clean as possible. Any advice would be welcomed. Also, where can I purchase the fuses besides through the dealer?

Good memory Honda.

I upgraded from the 4030 to the 5036 last winter. I have also insulated all lines and used a piece of r19 on the door of the stove to insulate the pump. When both fans are blowing, my delta t is -20. I've given some thought to adding a plate exchanger but I think that would add too much of a load. I'm still waiting to see results when it gets really cold.

Thanks for the feedback. The fuse was blown. Replaced it and it is back to working. I will be ordering a solenoid today for a backup. Any reputable online dealers recommended?  Anything I can do to prevent blowing a fuse in the future?

So I wake up this morning to a cold house. Went outside and the water temperature was down to 148. Opened the door and the stove was full. Noticed the damper wasn't open so no air was getting to the firebox.  Took the front panel off and looked at the fuse. It had a burnt spot in the middle. I'm assuming that means it's blown?  So, how can I fix this?  Where can I order parts and get them shipped asap?  Thanks.

I misspoke. I actually have a Honeywell version. Some with an hvac guy and they were saying something about a relay???

I'm bumping this old thread for any new information about wiring a Nest thermostat to use both the wood burner and a heat pump as back up heat. Any information will be appreciated.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is the purpose of the plate exchanger?

I apologize for the childish drawing but is this what it would look like

If I am understanding this correctly then I will have a total of 4 tees. Do these need to be monoflow?  Would the pump go on the supply or return for the second hx?

We have talked about that before.  Would I place the tee off of the supply entering the house OR off of the return from the first HX?  Could I do this if I kept the original pump (Taco 009) at the stove (what my dealer recommends)?  Would the tees need to be monoflow tees?

Adding another water to air heat exchanger to heat my basement. Do I need to put a zone valve on it or just let the water circulate through the exchanger even when it is not calling for heat. The heat exchanger is only 5 ft away from the return line. Thanks.
