Hey guys,

Another newbie question. I have 2 circulator pumps on the back of my OWB but only one zone in the house. Can anyone explain to me why this might be? It looks like the piping for the one circulator comes out of the furnace through the circulator pump and right back into the furnace. Am I wrong to think that this is just circulating water through the water jacket?

Thanks,

I have a mahoning conventional owb that I plan on shutting down for the season. This is my first year taking care of it but it has been used for many years and I know has not been cleaned out for many years. I was just wondering what you guys typically do for cleaning and maintenance from year to year especially if it has not been done in awhile. What do you clean and how do you clean it. I plan on replacing the door seals and a temp gauge but as far as cleaning the creosote out what is the best and easiest way to do this? Do you drain the system and replenish with new water? I read about treating the water?

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Furnace Temperatures
« on: March 28, 2018, 05:09:36 PM »
Hi all,

Still learning this whole outdoor wood furnace business. Quick question, I had was what is the low and high temp settings and what temp. diff. do you use on your outdoor wood burner? Do you change it throughout the season depending on outdoor temps? I also should mention this is a conventional wood burner and not a new "gassifer?" if that is what you call them.

Thanks for you help that you can offer.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / New to the OWB word. Help?!
« on: December 14, 2017, 05:13:58 PM »
My fiancé and I just recently moved into her grandmother's house. It is an old stone house and came with a Mahoney outside wood burner with an oil back up furnace. I am having troubles with the wood burner boiling over. I thermostat is set at 180 degrees. I notice from reading other posts that people have a low setting and high setting for their thermostats? From what I can tell, I only have one thermostat in the back of the wood burner. Is it possible to only have one?

Any help or guidance to understanding this wood burner would be great!

Thanks,
