In the process of purchasing a house with a Woodmaster 4400. The unit has been drained to prevent freezing since no one is in the house. I noticed the baffle handle will not pull in and out. Anyone know how this works and what may be wrong? I plan on filling it with City water but wondered what you guys use for corrosion inhibitor? A web search brings  all kinds of magic products. Are there any preferences you like?

I can't help you on your baffle handle and I don't know about city water, is it chloronated? As far as water treatment I have had good luck with "certified." I put 1 gallon in over 5 years ago and my yearly sample's have all came back within their specs (ph, conductivity, and nitrates).

Didn't think about the chlorination. But I don't think that will be a big problem if there is any microbial growth or anything to be oxidized by the chlorine it won't be around long. Certified is the actual brand name?

Are you buying it locally or is there a website? I did a quick search and didn't see a lot about it.

You can Get it through empyre dealers and heatmaster dealers as well, it's the best product out there I think

The handle is stuck do to creasote build up around baffle bypass , tap end of handle toward back of stove a few times and it will free up. Then slide it back and forth , it will then loosen up. Before you fire pull front shroud off , 4- 1/4 screws. Make sure your draft fan moves freely and your rubber flap covering fan is in good shape. Woodmaster has a feature that when water temp drops below 120 it shuts fan and damper that way it doesn't take fire completely out. It will then flash LA - low alarm hit set button and everything is ready to go again. Make sure fan over ride switch is in the on position. Fill with water and half gallon of water treatment and your ready to fire. Check your pump and make sure water is flowing. Good luck.
