We do not have central air but I do have an A coil, could I have plumbed that to my owb as well \ instead?  I know the ports are a little small.  Would the a coil have held up under the heat?  Just a thought.

It wont work, I've seen it tried.  Heat wasn't the issue it was the flow.

Scott is correct. Although you could maybe hook it up, it will not work. There would be very little flow. A-coils are designed to work at higher pressure than you could ever attain with an outdoor waterstove. Generally, max test pressures on most a-coils is 150psi., although in operation, they operate at lower pressures depending on the refrigerant used. Still, you'd never get enough water flow.

I've seen people put larger outlets on them and get them to work moderately well. Still, for the money go get a good flat coil with one inch outlets. If you are going to spend the time and money to do an outdoor furnace you should do it right.
