The only time mine has done the huffing or puffing thing (back through the air manifold) was when the holes were plugged in air tube at the top of the firebox.   Only happened once and then I figured out what was causing it and kept those holes clear and it never happened again.

I have a 22 Ton Huskee, I have split 36" dry elm with it, and it worked fine.  I don't think anything is much harder than dry elm.  I have not found anything that it wouldn't split, had it for a year and love it.  Pretty sure Speeco makes the Huskee splitters for TSC.

I live about  15 miles north of Marlette and have P&M 250 Optimizer (gasser) that I put in last fall and have been running all winter.  You're welcome to come look at it if you want.  PM me and we'll talk.

Here are a couple more pictures of my P&M Opt. 250.  I added a couple of lights to the top of the unit:  green -  draft fan is running; red -  fan switch is in the off position; both green and red lights on - fan switch is off and control is calling for draft fan to run.  There are also a couple of pictures inside of the firebox.  Jackel, I know you wanted a couple of pictures of the inside, sorry it took so long.  You can see the draft tube running up the back and across the top, there are 3 - 5/8" holes in the bottom of the top tube, 1 in the bottom at the back, and about 6 on each side of the top tube.

Check  the air holes in the top of the firebox on both the sides and bottom of the square tube and make sure they are not plugged, use the hook on the end of the poker that came with the unit to clean holes out.  Also check the electric damper control on the fan box  and make sure it is not stuck shut or open.  I've had mine stick open a couple of times, applied high temp grease, seems to be okay now.

I started my P&M 250 Optimizer the first of Oct. and haven't added any since.

Coolidge,  are you or have you been having trouble with condensation dripping out the doors or out the bottom of the fan box?  I guess they are coming out with a fix for the dripping fan box which will extend the shaft on the damper motor and adding a closer to the air inlet tube to the refractory.  They are also coming out with a stainless cover to go over the firebrick on the refractory door because of the trouble with the fire brick breaking.  Talked to Brian at P&M today about it.  Over all I am happy with the unit, seems to gassify pretty well.

Glad the antenna extension worked for you.  I would have put my leads on the steel pipes coming out of the boiler but the leads on the probes were too short, on steel or copper would be closer to what the aquastat reads.

I put one of the leads on the pex just below the pump going to the house and the other one on the pex return line just before going back into the boiler.  I insulated all the pipes in the back of boiler with 1" pipe insulation after installing probes, they read about 13* lower than my Johnson controller, because of being strapped to the pex, instead of being immersed.  I also extended the antenna by wrapping a piece of no. 12 coated wire around the little short antenna and routing it out and above the owb so I could see it from house, have real good signal now with no down time.  Had reception problems until, on a whim, I extended the antenna.

I usually just let them cycle through.  P & M recommends a thorough periodically.  We have been in Calif. the last two weeks, so plan to do a complete cleaning tomorrow when we get home.  I have been burning it continuously since the first of October.

Merry Christmas to all.  Visiting son Ron & family in Coronado, CA before they leave for Korea for two years.  Sounds kind of uncertain over there, especially since he's a F 16 fighter pilot. Keep them in your prayers.

Bill,  I noticed when I filled mine that  the dif. between low level line and upper fill line is only 2 or 3 gallons.  You might not have a problem.  Mine  is down a little bit, but not enough to add.  Boyd
