First off what happened to the P&M dealers? The upper door into the smoke passage on my 5 year old P&M ML30 has the inner liner rusted thru. Since I couldn't locate any nearby dealer I sent an e-mail to P&M explaining and I got a call the next day saying they will send a new door on their dime. ;D Overall it's been a good stove but I do get more moisture in the door areas than I think I should.

I had the same issue on my ML30. Mine ended up rotting out the heat exchanger where it was welded. Do you have moisture in the heat exchanger?

Joks79, how many years did you get out of your ML30?

This year I elevated my ash pan with a piece of 1.5" aluminum angle. This keeps the pan and ash area where there is a good location for air movement to keep any condensation dried out. I then added a 6" x 10" x 1 1/4" fire brick (on edge) in front of ash pan. This addition along with covering my 2840 ash pan protrusion with 1" foil back cellotex has eliminated all condensation. Again, ALL CONDENSATION. I literally have not had one sign of moisture this year and as we all know, it has been a mild winter so far. May start condensation tomorrow, but it has worked well so far. Stay warm....

Just curious, what made you buy another portage and Maine if you only got 4 years out of the ML 30?.. I would think the should last longer than that..........

They worked out a deal. They claimed error on both sides. I never talked to Brian on this I wish I would have. I didn't like working with Rory.

I got my new door installed with no problem other than it took some prying to compress the gasket enough to latch the door. Hopefully many more years left in the stove. P&M treated me right on this.

Portage and Maine seems to be a really good company, how many years have you had your ML30?

About 6 years, paid for itself pretty quick.
