Title: Ticks
Post by: coolidge on November 04, 2017, 06:22:27 PM
Are horrible.  I pulled 18 of me today, 13 of them while sitting 12 feet off the ground in my tree stand.

Swatting mosquitos too.

Darn, I'm hungry just dreaming of it, sure would be nice right now with 4 over easy eggs, 2 pieces of whole wheat toast, and lots real butter smeared all the way to the edge like my MOM used to do!

Maybe you're tasty! There's 3" of snow on the ground here so bugs are a non-issue currently, but I can honestly say I haven't seen a tick in 2 or 3 years! Mosquitoes and those stinky orange Asian beetle things on the other hand, I cannot say the same. About 3 weeks ago I thought it was a plague. Asian beetles literally covered everything imaginable for about 4 days then disappeared again for the most part

Yep, those stupid lady beetles show up here, then swarm a person while climbing the ladders on the grain bins. So far may not be an issue this fall, if the rain keeps up it will be well into freezing temps before we can get back at it and have to worry about climbing grain bins.

Me and my boy took a walk in the woods this morning, maybe 1/4 mile, i brushed 6 ticks of me and took another four of him, about the size of pencil lead.

Nice.
You ever skin one by hanging from the neck and tieing the neck  hide with a rock and a loop of rope to a vehicle? Peels it clean as a whistle. :)

Had the conditioning rolls on a haybine do that to a bambi once, went home and washed it immediately, still stunk like wild goat for weeks.
