Central Boiler / Maxim Thermal Valve leaking
« on: March 18, 2018, 06:02:09 PM »
Question for anybody with knowledge of thermal valves on Maxims.
My maxim 250 thermal valve activated due to some clinker build up that I missed causing a back burn, I think.  However, the thermal valve continues to drip.  Any ideas?  If I have to replace the valve, the job just became even more of a problem.  I have cleaned the stove etc, but I can't put it together until the valve is functioning properly.  I am open to all suggestions.  Thanks for any ideas in advance.

Central Boiler / Maxim M250 Door Rope
« on: October 10, 2016, 09:50:15 AM »
I have looked everywhere for the replacement size for the door rope on the Maxim.  I have not found it.  Anyone have any ideas, I see most of the sizes for the other models is 7/8.  Suggestions?  I have looked all through the parts catalog, so I am at a loss. :bash:

Plumbing / Water to Water Heat Exchanger
« on: August 27, 2016, 07:22:36 PM »
Hello,
I think my water to water heat exchanger is shot.  A lot of mineral buildup on the outside and we seem to run out of hot water from time to time.  I am also thinking it might be time to put a new hot water heater in since I don't know how old this one is?  I am afraid that the tank has become filled with a bunch of sediment, therefore cutting down on the storage space inside of the tank...any thoughts?  I also wonder if the electric hot water heater is the best way to store hot water?  Any ideas?  Thanks...

Fire Wood / Pellets for OWB
« on: December 27, 2012, 06:24:07 AM »
I have a Maxim 250 furnace and I am looking for pellet comments.  I have burned vast quantities of Empire pellets(hardwood) going on the sixth ton, made right around the corner from me.  I have burned a ton of Curran mixed (softwood and hardwood).  I have also burned a half ton of Bear pellets.  Right now, the ranking would be 1a) Bear, 1b) Empire, and 5) Curran.  The curran really created some heat, but boy did they go fast.  The Empire burn slower and create a little less heat.  Bear was about the same.  Any thoughts...

Central Boiler / Hot water in the summer with Maxim
« on: July 23, 2012, 09:19:58 PM »
Is anybody heating their hot water in the summer with their maxim?  I am a newbie and I just started.  It is going okay except for a ten minute period where the fire star was blinking three green lights across the heat output indicators.   I turned it off and then back on and that seemed to fix the problem... I think.  Any ideas... I am calling dealer because I don't see anything in the volumes of directions...
