I would go with a PSC blower instead of a shaded pole. Shaded pole motors are really inefficient.

It looks like shipping prices to Canada have really gone up since I last shipped there. It looks like it would be around $30-$35 including shipping for two of them.

If you have forced air heat, the furnace blower probably uses a lot more power than the pump.

The taco 0013 isn't an ecm pump, is it? I thought it was just a regular type with variable speed control.

Out of 15 or 20 of the Armstrong ecm pumps, there were just the two failures that I know of.

I was using Armstrong ECM pumps for a while. I had a couple of them die so I went back to Grundfos 15-58 pumps. It was the electronics on both that died. The mechanical parts of the pumps looked like they were still in perfect condition. Both were in the back of G series stoves and both stoves had two but only one died. I am wondering if it is too hot in the stove for the electronics.

Yes, I still have a lot of them.
Shipping costs have gone up since then so might need a little more to cover that.

It sounds like an air lock before the pump. Need to make sure no air between the pump and boiler or no water will move. If it has been run that way for a long time then pump is probably bad too.

Where are you located?

What is the MFG date of your stove? It should have year and month on the label on the side of the stove.

Did you clean the damper plate? If not, that is where I would start. Remove it and clean completely. I like to coat heavily with dry lube before putting back together. (something like this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Blaster-9-3-oz-Advanced-Dry-Lube-with-Teflon-16-TDL/202532762 )

You pretty much have to make the trench fit the pipe, not make the pipe fit the trench.
The diameter of the roll is usually pretty close to the maximum bend you will be able to get unless you have a couple people to help with it. Since it is usually about 8' in diameter when not forced tighter, you would need to be down about 3-4'. You probably will need to bury it once you get the angle above round right to keep it in place so you can bend it back straight up.

Electronics / Re: second thermostat won't run blower fan on oil furnace
« on: October 31, 2019, 09:38:15 PM »
Does the 2nd thermostat run on batteries? If not, do you have a C wire hooked to it?
What terminals do you have the wires on. You should have the wire that used to be on the G terminal in the original thermostat connected to the W in the new thermostat.
You also need a wire added from the RH on the original thermostat(or R if no RH) to the RH in the new thermostat.

Portage & Main / Re: pump runs but not moving water

Also, did you make sure the new pump was not installed backwards? There should be an arrow on the pump that needs to point the right way.

If you have a drain valve in the house after the pump, open it and let water flow. You should hear the pump start churning once water gets to it.
If that doesn't work, close the return valve and try again.

If you don't have a drain valve, loosen the pump flange on the output side of the pump withough shutting the valves to let some water out. That usually will get the water flowing.
