Great choice. I'm sure Roger or I will be glad to share our experiences if you have any questions on down the road. You connect up your XP to your router?

Update - Starting year 3 with Edge 750HD. Everything is still original, no issues and operation has been a breeze. Took right off again and had water up to 185 temp in 1 1/4 hours from 48 degree start up. Looking forward to another great year. Always great turning off my water heater breaker. I  prefer the Edge wood heat over my propane heat. Feels warmer throughout house. You have your Edge up and running yet Roger?

Johnwinch,
Be sure to use your own intelligence when making your choice. I encourage you to personally lay your eyes and hands on a Central Boiler Edge HDX, Heatmaster & Crown Royal before making your purchase. Compare the features and manufacture of each. I have nothing but good things to say about my Edge 750. The Heatmaster and Crown Royal dealers have nothing but bad things to say about CB, but they don't seem to have that much to say about their own features but are quick with "CB is no good so don't buy". Don't let forum and facebook dealers sway your decisons, check the furnaces out, compare and buy what you think is the best choice.

I've heard the same thing. Hardy is done building furnaces due to new EPA regulation requirements and shut down.

I believe CB has a zirk kit that can modify that handle shaft so it can be periodically greased

Does your FireStar fan indicator light show the fan is on? If so, then unplug the fan and use a multimeter in the harness connector to see if power is present. If you have 120V present make sure you are getting good fan wire connections in connector. If so you likely have a bad fan motor. I would expect fan would be covered under warranty if your furnace is less than a year old like other electrial components. Should be easy fix for your dealer. Let us know what you find out on Thursday.

Central Boiler / $300 Tax Credit Available
« on: January 07, 2020, 09:47:42 PM »
I just recieved a notice from my dealer stating that a $300 Tax Credit has been announced.
It also retro’s back to previous 2018 and 2019 purchases plus 2020 on qualified EPA Certified models, so I should be able to get the $300 rebate on my previous Edge HD purchase.
For us Central Boiler buyers, they have program information and a certificate posted on their website to bring our tax man at this link - https://centralboiler.com/explore/tax-credits/
This tax credit should work on any EPA certified gasser purchased in 2018 & 2019 as I read the information if the manufacture can provide a certificate on their qualifying models.

750 Edge continues to burn great! Maintenance and cleaning is so easy and the Firestar XP wifi is the best ever.

My fan has oil ports on it too. They were located on the underside of the fan motor, so had to remove a couple of bolts to take tje fan off to access them.

Rufostoad, you asked if there are any experienced Edge users for input. I have been burning gassers for years and can't say enough good things about my Titanium Edge 750 HD. I ran the 750 HD last heating season. You can read my post updates here on this site under the Central Boiler heading - lower down on the home page. Roger runs a Titanium Edge 550 HD and shares his experience as well.   https://outdoorwoodfurnaceinfo.com/forum/index.php?topic=9751.0
I would not be without my XP wifi info. and the history charts are awesome. You can see and understand every burn cycle, allowing you to "tweak" your burn practices if you wish. The FireStar controller capabilities are light years ahead of anything else out there. Operation and maintenance access can't get much easier. As you can tell, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Hey Roger, looking at extended forecast, I plan to fire up my Edge HD next week. Looking forward to turning off the breaker on my water heater again!

I agree with Roger, put your eyes and hands on both units before you buy. I guess that is why I don't like buying stuff on line, I'm still old school. I just put my first season on my Edge 750 Titanium HD as well and have nothing but good things to say about it. Don't sell the Firestar controller with the built in XP wifi short, I would not be without it after having it and the burn chart history's are awesome. I don't think any other brand is using a thermocouple to monitor combutions and control adding the just correct amount of air using stepper motors to maximize correct combustion. Access to rear exchangers through the rear hinge door couldn't be easier and I am a big fan of urethane foam encompasing the entire water jacket. That is my 2 cents. You are right that it is a big investment so do take a look at both. I believe the 200 would be the same size at the Edge550HD like Rogers.  Good luck.

Hey Roger, how did your end of season cleanup go? I forgot to give my end of 1st season update. Bottom line very impressed with my Edge 750HD. Very easy to use, operate and clean. Easily achieved 1,000+ degree burn temps each cycle which seemed to keep creosote accumualtion to a minimum. Never had more than a fine powdery coating on the rear exchangers which are easily seen and accessed by opening the rear hinged door. Taking out the side air channels for end of season cleanup (only time I removed all heating season) was very easy, again some powder accumulation and back right corner had a little creosote buildup that easily scraped out. Probably because I neglected the back corners a little, but not enough to effect perfomance. The new stepper motors worked great and I had almost no creosote built up in the bottom of those elbows. So right now she is scraped out, cleaned out, vacuumed out, put back together and has a bucket over the chimney and ready to go next season. I would have to give it a 10 out of 10 on a rating scale. Did everything I expected and great improvement on maintenance requirements over the Eclassic. I had no controller or water level float switch problems with mine, but my dealer buddy did recommend I swap out my plastic float switch for the new stainless float switch they use now during the off season.

By maintaining my water treatment and doing regular nitrite tests my water has always looked clear like drinking water. Yellowed or brownish water would signal the water treatment has not been maintained and I would suggest a flush, water refill and new treatment be necessary. 18 years before a corrosion leak issue with water not monitored or treated correctly is impressive in my mind.
