For those researching boilers to make a decision, lets help them out.

Everybody wants a good deal.  My definition of a good deal definitely includes longevity.  So, can we have members state what boiler they have and how long they have owned it WITHOUT WELDING.

Electrical parts are exempt: pumps, aquastats, blowers, ect.

I know there are some great stories on here, lets put them together. Please no "I know a guy" stories.  Personal experience only.

So, I'll go first, Natures' Comfort gt-220...3 years old, no welding yet.  I know... lame.

Hardy / H2 reflective plate installed.
« on: January 15, 2014, 10:47:54 AM »
My Father in law has an H2.

This past weekend I cut a piece of steel 16" x 16" and 3/8"thick.  We hung this plate of steel a couple inches below the top of the firebox just under the chimney hole.
This created a plate that the fire will have to go around before getting out the chimney, hopefully creating an increase in efficiency due to the heat being forced to travel closer to the sides and top of the firebox.

I should have taken some pictures but I'm sure its easy to picture with your imagination.   I'll check with him in a few days to see if he thinks its making any difference.

It always bugged me when I'd open the door and see the fire just rushing right out of the top.

Any info from someone using a Heatmaster gasifier?  How are they working and do the tubes stay clean?  Have you measured you exhaust temps when it is gasifying?

thanks.

Natures Comfort / anyone running a 325-G?
« on: January 02, 2014, 10:15:28 PM »
Saw the latest Nature's Comfort video on youtube about the newest 325-G.  It looks pretty nice with some good features.

If you have one, how much are you heating with it and where do you live?

Shaver Furnace / Shaver top loader
« on: December 06, 2013, 04:47:22 PM »
Saw a top loading boiler by Shaver on Ebay.   I know Shaver's reputation but that looks awesome.  Open it with a remote control and load it with logs with the skid loader.   come back in a couple days to do it again.

Natures Comfort / Updates on Nature's Comfort GT-220
« on: October 20, 2013, 09:30:27 PM »
Well, I purchased all of Nature's Comfort "upgrades" for my GT 220 this year.

New Floor plates, new fire brick, new draft actuator door, new refractory door liner, new turbulators for 6 upright tubes.

Stove is up and running again.  Basically it is the same stove with more standard fire brick that can be replaced with store bought bricks instead of needing any custom shaped brick.

Pros:  easier to replace fire brick if needed.   Stainless refractory door liner that won't disintegrate.

Heatmor / Question for Heatmor owners
« on: August 16, 2013, 10:00:09 AM »
So, I was at the Iowa state fair yesterday and saw the Heatmor display stoves.

I noticed that you could see the ground inside the fire box, like there is no bottom to the stove.  Is it sealed once you buy one or do you have to somehow seal the bottom yourself?
