Title: Phase II OWB
Post by: DaveV on March 14, 2012, 11:12:34 PM
Hi I am researching OWBs ,I live in NH and would need a phase II model
I have found a few ,Central Boiler 2400 ,Heatmaster G200/G400
Are there any other Manufacturers /Models that anyone would recommend
It would be used to supplement heat in a fairly average insulated 2500 sf house
This was heated by 4.5 tons of pellets this year and occasional use of oil (1/2 tank)
also main heat in a 25 x 50 room with an indoor pool which would also be heated
both were unheated this year

Thanx Dave

In gassers i would recommend empyre or portage and main.  Empyre has more EPA phase 2 units than most and a newline being introduced in April.  Heatmaster g400 is not phase 2, and quite frankly the heatmaster gassers aren't something I feel are at the top tier at this time.

You tube empyre pro series and empyre elite, portage and main has some good videos too

I have the P&M Optimizer 250 and love it.  It's rated to do 5,000 square feet so it handles my 3,000 sq ft home with ease.  I have burned close to 4 cords this winter.

Since you are in a state that requires a Phase II, I highly recommend the Central Boiler E Classic.  I have been running one myself for over 4 years and it burns 1/2 the amount of wood that my previous outdoor wood furnace!  I did a lot of research before buying and now I see they have a video library on their website:  www.centralboiler.com (http://www.centralboiler.com)

Here is a video on the E Classic:

Thanks for sharing the great videos! The Eclassic video really shows in detail how their "gasser" works.
The factory video is very impressive. Looked like lots of of high tech equipment and even robots. The place looked huge!
Makes me feel even better about being an Eclassic 2400 owner and the technology put into it.
Gives me confidence they will be around to back their products in the years ahead as "gassers" become mandatory.

I got the e1400 and it heats my 3200 sqft home perfectly one thing for sure after such a lame winter you should get a deal, local support was one big factor, but that was before I found this site

Another NH guy...excellent.  I have a Portage & Main Optimizer 250.  After my research I decided on the PM over Central Boiler, but do your your research and choose what makes the most sense for you.

My unit heats 3000 square feet, heats my HW, and will soon be heating my pool.

I am over on the seacoast.  Let me know if you want to come over & check it out.
