General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Benefits from types of chimneys
« on: November 07, 2015, 11:03:20 PM »
I am wondering what the benefits are of running a triple or double walled insulated chimney on a outdoor boiler, versus just a plain single walled black stove pipe. I have noticed so many different types of chimneys being used, and nobody seems to has a good answer of why they chose that type of chimney to use. Let's hear what you are using and why you selected that type, thanks in advance.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / pump speeds
« on: November 23, 2014, 08:16:52 PM »
I currently have a 3 speed pump with a 95 ft run. The whole past season I left in on medium setting with a decent 5 wrap from badger. My typical heat loss is around 4 degrees on that run which I'm OK with. My question is would it be beneficial to speed that pump up to the highest setting or even try dropping it down to the lowest setting. It probably doesn't matter much either way which speed but I just wanted to see what  you guys thought. I'm just trying to fine tune my setup. Thank you in advance

Just wondering if any of you change your temp settings. Or shorten up your swings on your stoves in the moderate weather. I found what I really like in the winter months, but this time of year kind of puzzles me. Winter months 180 with a 15 degree swing is ideal, but what about now when it's around 55 in the day and 30's at night?

Just wondering what you guys think about an extension on the stack of your boilers. Around me it's about 50/50 if they put one on or not. Does it help or hurt the efficiency of the stove.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / very little smoke
« on: November 19, 2013, 11:56:21 AM »
Three people have asked me is your stove ever running in the past few weeks. The country road that I live pretty much everybody has an outdoor boiler. So this morning the temps were in the teens I drove down the road and yes most everybody's boiler creates a lot more smoke than mine. I am not upset that mine doesn't smoke much but just wondering why? My neighbor has a central classic from the late 90's and thing smokes like crazy all the time, and I mean tons of smoke. Any insight would be great thanks! By the way I've learned so much from this forum in the past few months thanks everybody for your posts
