When it goes out all it takes is a piece of paper to get it going, I have never used anything special to light it , my first year it was going out a lot , I am in my second year and it does not go out often, when it does just moving the wood in there relights it

It does work.  I've used them for cold starts in the past.  However, you still need a bunch of kindling.  If you have good kindling, then all you need is a little paper and/or cardboard to get it going.  So is it worth the money??  Eh, not if you have paper/cardboard and dry kindling.
