sidearm..will it work if
« on: September 27, 2014, 07:42:58 PM »

In the process of installing new heatmaster owb...want to get my sidearm working.  The sidearm was in the house when I bought it and has never worked.   I plan on re plumbing it into the pressure relief valve with a TEE fitting.. My question is the side arm heater is as tall as the hot water heater so water will have to travel up the sidearm then will drop about 8 inches back down to the pressure relief tee I install...Is that fine...also I seem to be finding mixed info on the boiler port connections...Mine has been installed with the supply on the bottom and the return on the top. thanks for all the help

No it will not thermo siphon! Raise your tank and install the top of the side arm level with the tee, be careful it is going to get hot!

Slim is correct. Was having an issue with mine not thermosiphoning and it was 8-10 inches above the tank. Just for kicks i leaned the sidearm so it was level with the top of the tank and voila it works. Somehow you need to keep the top of that sidearm no more than 4 inches above your heater.
