Will this vent pipe work?
« on: December 04, 2014, 07:46:28 AM »

http://www.menards.com/main/heating-cooling/venting/wood-fireplace-stove-venting/insulated-double-wall-stove-venting/supervent-8-x-36-chimney-pipe/p-1323366-c-6894.htm

Does anyone know if the vent pipe in the link above will work on Heatmaster stoves? Everything I can find suggests that the Supervent brand is made my Selkirk.  If you copy and past the Part number in Google it even comes up with a Selkirk website.  I was just wondering if anyone had used this type of pipe on their stove.

Thanks.

I guess the Supervent stuff doesn't hook up to the Selkirk pipe correctly.

Let me know if you find one that works Mr. AirForcePOL.  I'd like another length or two of pipe too.

I found some on Amazon for a decent price.  It's the actual Selkirk pipe.

I haven't bought it yet but I bet that stuff would work.  It's the Selkirk brand.

How many sections do you guys have on without any stabilization?  I'm looking at adding 2 sections of 48" pipe.  I need to know if I'll need to anchor it or not.  I hope 2 sections will be fine.

I added 4 4foot double wall pipes = 16foot with a cap. They ARE guy wired to the ground into the concrete pad.
I also have a T pipe in the bottom of the stack so I can clean it out from the bottom. I highly recommend a clean out T. Very convenient.
So, my stack is 7 boiler+2 (T) +16 +1cap=26 foot tall. Works great. I had it for a while. But it is supported.

At what height is your chimney strap?  If you are 26' tall and you have 1 strap, I assume it is around the 14' mark?  So, that means you have 14' of the top half that is unsupported, which is almost twice as high as my proposed 8', right?

No, I have two straps; one to the middle of the chimney and one at the very top.
If you send me your address I'll send you pics.
I can't post pics here I don't know why.

AirForcePol,

I have 8' of triple wall S/S on my 5000E, came from TSC. It not exactly whats coming out of the OWB but it fits and work OK. Just using the flashing to keep it solid, only about 2' out of the roof of my building.
