  not sure if it is the proper one for the job though.. I have a forced air furnace in the basement, the temperature stays incredibly accurate with this thermostat, however the furnace fan comes on every 3 minutes or so, and runs for approximately 30 seconds, will my furnace fan motor burn out over these frequent starts, or should I be looking at a different thermostat to keep the house temperature stable? The thermostat  that was here from the original outdoor furnace tended to "stick", that the house might feel cool, then walking across the floor or closing a door vibrated it to come on, then it would run for a long time and the house would get overheated.

I bought a nice Honeywell programmable t-stat, it would cycle my furnace blower on/off so many times (every few minutes) that it became ridicules. took it back and bought a LUX programmable t-stat. This is the brand I always stuck to for the last 15 years. It has an adjustable temperature swing, from a 1/2 degree on up. Thought I'd try that Honeywell because it looked pretty.

With the furnace blower cycling on/off unnecessarily, it will definitely increase your electric bill.

I'm currently using the LUX TX9100E for my owb, it replaced my old 13 year old LUX a couple years ago. I'm also using LUX TX9100T (touch pad) for my gas furnace. Both work great.

You guys know that most of these set back thermostats also are capable of changing your temperature differential so that the furnace will cycle longer and less often

You can't use a baseboard heater thermostat. If it is just for the OWB, get one for a gas fired furnace. You can use one that is meant for a heatpump but the wiring is more complicated.

Exactly.  The thermostat is trying to send short bursts of electical current to the "baseboards" to conserve energy.

I use a LUX touch pad for my set up as well. gas furnace, outdoor wood furnace.
Would highly recommend the LUX thermostat!
