My 6048 is leaking black soot at the rear of stove some of it is running on the tin. This happens more when burning wetter wood. As any one else seen this ? My dads did this and the dealer put a double gasket at the chimney and seemed to fix his.

I think you would be happy with the central 6048, it will burn very large pieces of wood and I have had no trouble keeping the fire from going out. It is a very simple design that works good .

MY NEIGHBOR HAS A 6048 AND IS HEATING HIS 3,000 SQ. FT. HOME , A 40 X 60 SHOP AND A 40 X 40 SHOP AND HE HAS BEEN USING IT FOR AT LEAST 10 YEARS W/ NO PROBLEMS EXCEPT FOR 1 PUMP.

Heated my shop and house w/ a hardy h2 and after 10 years of use I sold it for 2900.00. I bought the stove for 3300.00. All my wood is free just my time to cut and haul it which I love to do anyway. Now I will be using a new cb 6048.

Mine has over heated before and did not hurt it, my neighbor told me he opened the ash door on his and used a leaf blower to blow air under the fire and it got so hot it blew the vent stack off of it. That stove is over 20 years old and still going.

Central Boiler / Re: HARDY H2 TO A CB 6048

My house and shop are very well insulated and the 6048 is 500,000 btu. Is your heatmaster easy to keep fire going, or does it ever go out ?

Central Boiler / HARDY H2 TO A CB 6048
« on: January 17, 2014, 07:20:25 AM »
I've used a hardy H2 for 10 years and the stove has done great but, with heating  40 x 40 shop w/ floor heat and a 1500 sq ft home and water some times it can not keep up. I have told the cb dealer that I will buy a 6048 that they have in stock. I was also looking at heatmasters 10,000 mf.  Any thoughts on the 6048.

HeatMaster / Re: Heatmaster, Central Boiler, or Portage and Main

I have seen post about the 5036 leaking around the round braces that they weld between the two tanks. My neighbors leaked after about 5 years of use, but I know of other people that have had no problems w/ theirs.

How thick is the fire box on a 10000e or 5000e stove. I seen these stoves at the farm show Saturday. I have a dealer close to me also. So I may be buying one if my hardy fails beyond repair.
